10
With a starting total of 10, the likelihood
of a player doubling down and receiving a 20 (a powerful
and often unbeatable total) is high. The exception to
this rule is when the dealer has an Ace or a 10-valued
card. Doubling ones bet in this situation would be unwise,
as the dealer will likely end up with a 20 also. It
would be foolish to place more money down when the best
a player can hope for is a push.
