Given that the players total is a stiff
13, a hit against any of the dealer’s stiff cards,
even a 2 or 3 is a big risk. It is, however, a risk
that must be taken. The chances of success with this
hand are low, but financial losses will be reduced by
hitting rather than standing. If the player is about
to lose anyway, they may as well take the opportunity
of potentially drawing a small card, which will provide
them with a pat and possibly a winning hand.
