Blackjack money management

The 2% rule

A player should never bet more than 2% of their total bankroll on any single hand. If their total bankroll is £500, they should be playing at minimum bet tables i.e., the £1 and £2 tables.

A player must remember that if they do play with small amounts of money, they cannot expect to make a killing from Blackjack overnight. It stands to reason that if a player wishes to make more, they must be willing to risk more.

If and when the betting reaches astronomical levels, it is often a temptation for novice players to risk a lot more in order to win a huge amount. Basic Strategy can all too often be discarded as the player goes with the potentially fatal “gut instinct” that often paves way for “gamblers ruin.”

A player must be happy to let their winnings build up gradually, and remember that successful Blackjack is a slow process even for professionals.
