If a players hand signal is not clear or escapes the attention of the dealer, the player risks either not being given the requested “hit”, or being inadvertently “hit” when they opted to stand.

In such a case it is up to the pit boss to make a final decision. It is here that the video cameras or “the eye in the sky” proves invaluable.

However the chances of a dispute ever reaching a point where such action is necessary is rare. If genuine doubt exists and the betting is small, for the sake of public relations the pit boss, whose decision is always final, will usually side with the player.

Again, this is not an issue with online casinos, where you make your decisions by clicking the appropriate button. It is your responsibility to ensure that you do not hit the wrong button and if you do, it’s tough luck.
