The Vegas Club
Located near the end of Fremont street
in downtown Las Vegas, and laying claim to “The
most Liberal ‘21’ Rules in the World,”
this is a place were minor rule variations are part
of its history.
Here, the player is permitted to double-down after
any two, three or four cards, resplit Aces, and continue
to split any other pair as many times as they wish.
The Vegas Club offers the surrender option, and betting
stands between $3 to $500. In addition, if a player
receives a total of 21 with six cards they are an automatic
winner.
However the liberal rules of the Vegas Club are to
some extent balanced by various counter-measures that
they employ.
Firstly, it only has six-deck shoe games in which the
dealers are required to hit soft 17s. In a bid to discourage
counters who “track” shuffles, Vegas Club
dealers use two discard trays while waiting for the
shuffle card to appear. When it does, it is placed almost
halfway up the shoe, and since the Vegas Club does not
use shuffle machines, playing time is wasted waiting
for cards to be hand shuffled.
There are two versions of Vegas blackjack available
on the Internet, Vegas Downtown and Vegas Strip. The
main differences are that the former is played with
just 2 decks and requires the dealer to hit a soft 17,
while the latter is played with 4 decks and requires
the dealer to stand on any hand of 17 or higher.
